Best make sure your ice scrapers are handy, as temperatures are set to plummet overnight.

The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning for ice in Cheshire West and Chester from 8pm today (February 17) until 10am on Thursday (February 18).

A Met Office spokesman said: “Rain and some hill snow will clear from the west during the course of Wednesday evening, with the cloud thinning to allow the temperature to fall below freezing overnight and at first on Thursday morning.

"Please be aware of the risk of ice on untreated surfaces.”

Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service is reminding motorists that it takes longer to stop in icy conditions and to clear windows and mirrors before setting out.
