HUNDREDS tuned in last week to make Lache FM's four-day broadcast a resounding success.

The station drew listeners from Chester and beyond, with people from Greece, France and the Netherlands logging on to its website.

Station manager Chris Sutton said: "It’s been a privilege and a pleasure to have been involved. What a wonderful community to work in.

"After having to change our frequency through no fault of our own, we were really up against it just two-and-a-half days before the broadcast.

"We had to rally round and dig in in order to re-distribute our publicity and re-record all of our jingles, infomercials and call signs.”

Children from St Clare’s and Lache Primary Schools hosted shows, while tots from the Little Lache Playgroup sang live on air.

Lache resident Chris Gentile, who is currently working abroad, even managed to present his own show from Corfu via Skype.

Chester MP Stephen Mosley and Cllr Alex Tate also gave on air interviews to show their support.

Ann Wakelam, 60, presented the Ann and Les Show. She said: "I have really enjoyed this broadcast and it has been lovely to have so many children and young people involved."

The broadcast was organised by Lache Park Limited and supported by Cheshire Employer and Skills Development, Cheshire West and Chester Council, Enterprise Coaching Lache and Chester Soup Kitchen.
