HUNDREDS of women were in high spirits as they set off on the Moonlight Walk for the Countess of Chester hospital.

The night was warm and balmy as the participants donned flashing bunny ears and smiles for the 10-mile walk..

Despite supplies of chocolates, bananas and water, the walkers still looked forward to the traditional bacon butties at the end of the walk, along with their medals.

The hospital hopes to raise more than £20,000 in sponsorship, and one lucky walker who collects over £100 by the end of September will win the prize draw of a luxury holiday in Marbella for two, courtesy of Medic Care.

All monies will be split between the Breast Care Education and Equipment Fund and the Relative Comfort Appeal at the Countess of Chester Health Park.

Kathy Kenney, events fundraiser at the Countess of Chester, said: “The atmosphere was amazing and we are extremely grateful to everyone who walked, those who volunteered and others who took the time to help out on the night.

“Special thanks should also go to our sponsors, including Prescott Hall, Chez Jules, Cruise, LWC and HomeInstead.

“We also really appreciated the Roman Soldiers from Roman Tours who again helped marshal and awarded medals.”
