A 22-YEAR-OLD Northwich woman drove home with a shiny new motor for Christmas thanks to St Luke's Hospice in Winsford.

Lisa Woakes, of Winnington, won first prize - a racing red Skoda Fabia - in the hospice's annual fundraising raffle.

A St Luke's Hospice spokeswoman said: 'The raffle has become a significant part of the fundraising calendar over the years, and this year is no exception. More than £32,000 has been raised through the sale of the £1 tickets.

'The car has travelled to many summer fetes, garden parties, and shopping centres, and helped by our band of volunteers over 40,000 tickets have been sold.'

Other prizes up for grabs included a camera and printer, TV, DVD recorder, stereo, wine and John Lewis gift vouchers.

She added: 'Our costs are increasing year on year as we extend our many services and we now have to raise £4,650 each and every day.

'We are delighted with the success of this year's raffle, and would like to thank everyone who has helped us make is such a brilliant success.'

Robert Eardley, of Robert Eardley and Sons Skoda dealership in Crewe, made the draw.
