Customers have voted for Space as their charity of the year for Sainbury's in Hoole following a heartfelt nomination by staff member Donna Duncan.

Donna nominated Space as she has seen first hand how her sister Becky Hanna has been supported by the charity.

Becky said: “We have been attending Space since our move to Chester in July last year. The most amazing thing about Space is friends and the support you get.

“My daughter Sophie is seven and has Angelman Syndrome, she can go and make friends without being criticised for being too loud or heavy handed. Her sister Olivia has made many friends who understand her sister and can relate as a sibling.

“For me as a mum I love meeting other parents who know life is tough and don’t judge you when your child has a melt down. Space is a blessing to our family and we look forward to seeing our friends and having fun on Saturday.”

Charity founder Jemma Gregory added: “We are thrilled to be supported by Sainsbury’s in Faulkner Street and look forward to working with them over the coming year. We’d like to thank all the customers that voted for Space and Donna for her nomination.”

Space will be collecting in store from September 2-4.
