A cruel thief attacked a partially sighted man in Hoole, knocking him to the ground and stealing money, during the early hours of the morning.

Police have launched an investigation following the vicious incident which took place in Alder Grove on Sunday morning (May 15).

A Chester police spokesman said: “At 1am, the victim was walking with his guide dog along Alder Grove in Hoole when the incident happened. The man was pushed to the floor and his money stolen.

“The victim is safe and recovering from the event. Incidents of this nature are rare. Police are appealing for information and witnesses to assist in the investigation.”
