Resurfacing work has started on one of the major approach roads into Chester.

Major resurfacing at the top of A56 Hoole Road began earlier today (Tuesday, August 27).

A 300 metre section between Hoole Roundabout and Mannings Lane South will be closed to all traffic for four days until Friday, August 30. The resurfacing work will be carried out during the day.

The work marks the second phase of the project which began last week when the Hoole Roundabout was closed to traffic overnight for from Monday-Friday.

Cllr Lynn Riley, executive member for localities at Cheshire West and Chester Council, said: “These two major schemes, once complete, I am sure will be welcomed by drivers.

“Both the roundabout and Hoole Road are major gateways into the city and both will be greatly improved.

“We have listened to residents and drivers and know that the resurfacing at both sites is important to them and they have wanted the work to be carried out for some time.

“We apologise for the closures and the disruption this will cause and please bear with us because this work must be carried out.

“The long section of Hoole Road must be closed because deep repairs to the road surface have to be carried out.”
