Cheshire West and Chester Council will be taking the opportunity of Network Rail’s maintenance work on Hoole Bridge to carry out road resurfacing and other works.

During the full bridge closure between Friday, March 21 at 7pm and 6am Monday, March 24, the council will resurface the Brook Street junction.

The signed diversion routes will be the A51 Boughton and the A5116 Liverpool Road.

They will also be the diversion routes from March 24 when Hoole Bridge becomes one way into the city and drivers need to use the signed diversion routes to leave Chester.

During the one lane closure out of the city, Stagecoach will be running their number 53 bus service down Liverpool Road, Brook Lane and into Newton Lane. Arriva’s 21 Runcorn service and X30 Warrington service will also use Liverpool Road, into Brook Lane, then Newton Lane and left on to Hoole Road.

Pedestrians will be able to use Hoole Bridge for the whole works period.

In March during the bridge closure the Council will plan in other works on the bridge which includes drainage work and the replacement of a street light.

Council engineers are hoping that further resurfacing work can be carried out on Hoole Road, by Canadian Avenue, on April 5 and 6.  The bridge will be closed when Network Rail removes traffic management on April 7. Hoole Bridge is open to two–way traffic as normal on April 8.
