A drama group in Tarporley has benefited from a cash donation.

Tarporley Amateur Dramatic Society has received a boost from Taylor Wimpey North West.

The £1,300 donation will go towards replacing the lighting in the community centre and will be used for rehearsals and performances.

Vice chairman Emma Barnes said: “Our productions cost are in excess of £2,500 per performance and, as a not-for-profit organisation, raising the funds can be a challenge.

“We are extremely grateful for the generous donation from Taylor Wimpey, which will enable us to continue putting on productions that we, and the community, are proud of.”

Tarporley Amateur Dramatic Society has been entertaining audiences since 1939, producing two plays each year.

The society welcomes members of all ages who want to take up acting, or take on a more back stage, supportive role.

Sales manager at Taylor Wimpey North West Stuart Craig added: “Tarporley Amateur Dramatic Society is clearly a club close to the hearts of the community, with families and friends coming together to perform and entertain.

“When we heard the society was looking for funds to improve its facilities, we were thrilled to get involved and offer a helping hand.”

Emma added: “The money raised from each production goes straight back into the pot for the next performance, with any additional funds going to charity, so Taylor Wimpey’s donation really will make a big difference not only to us, but to the causes close to our hearts.

“On behalf of everyone at Tarporley Amateur Dramatic Society, I would like to say a big thank you to Taylor Wimpey for supporting us and the community.”
