THE Yew Tree Inn has been named South Cheshire’s top summer pub destination by real ale enthusiasts.
The historic Spurstow pub, near Tarporley, has received the ‘Pub of the Season – Summer 2012’ award from Camra (Campaign for Real Ale).
Over the last two years Jon and Lindsay Cox, who run the popular dining pub, have gained listings with several top guides including the Michelin Guide, Sawdays, the Good Pub Guide, and Camra Good Beer Guide 2012.
Mr Cox said: “This is very welcome recognition of the hard work that the whole team puts into making each visit to the Yew Tree a special experience, whether for a celebration meal or simply a delicious pint of cask ale.
“Since we opened only two years ago we have had more than 350 cask ales on the bar, held two very successful beer festivals and gained Michelin recognition – all to make the Yew Tree a great destination for lovers of real ales and good food.”
South Cheshire Camra branch secretary Mark Jeffries added: “The Yew Tree won this award for their consistent high quality of real ale served, quite an achievement when there are often six on, the excellent customer service delivered by all of the staff and for continuously supporting the aims and objectives of Camra.
“There is a lovely outside drinking area and on a nice summer day it would be the perfect place to have a fine pint of ale and some excellent food.”
