The High Sheriff of Chester, Susan Sellers, and her Chaplain, The Revd Trevor Davies, were delighted to accept an invitation to visit Tarporley CE Primary School.

They were greeted by headteacher Kerry Forrester, three house captains and two members of the school council who then showed them round the whole school.

They were introduced to every class from reception – for whom this was only their second full day in school – right up to Year 6.

The pupils were all very busy with lessons and activities both inside and outside.

The school was built in three different eras from the original building in the late 1800s to the most recent in the 1980s. It has wonderful playing fields and grounds behind it including an area where the children grow vegetables and flowers.

The High Sheriff and pupils spent a few minutes splitting some of the seed heads and sprinkling the seeds so next year hopefully there will be more poppies and marigolds.

The school has a strong ethos of pupil involvement and towards the end of the visit The High Sheriff and her Chaplain were asked lots of good questions about High Sheriffs by members of the school council.

At the council’s first meeting of the school year, following consultation with pupils they decided how to spend some recently awarded lottery money.
