CHARITABLE golfers helped put a smile on the face of a disabled and partially sighted child.

During a special Chinese-themed celebration at the Fortune Palace in Delamere Forest, members of Helsby Golf Club presented their 308th powered wheelchair to a disabled child.

Dominic Antwis from Runcorn, who is partially blind and has limited abilities, was given the specially made wheelchair by supporters of the club’s Powered Wheelchair Appeal.

The 12-year-old, who enjoys listening to nursery rhymes and joining his family on day-trips with their dogs, is one of hundreds of children the appeal has helped since it was founded 30 years ago.

The celebration, which saw hundreds of supporters tuck into a Chinese banquet and enjoy taking part in a raffle and quiz to raise even more money for the charity, saw Frank Noel of the Moore Foundation and Phil Evans of RBS Corporate Bank in Warrington hand over a £3,000 cheque to the appeal.

The appeal’s committee said they wished to express their thanks to the Moore Foundation and the RBS for their generosity, and thanked the unwavering support of everyone who helped to raise money toward the powered wheelchairs.
