Fund-raising has been in full swing for Helsby Golf Club's Powered Wheelchair Appeal.

The club has been raising money for the wheelchairs, for local children with special needs, on an annual basis for 33 years.

As part of this year's effort, Claudia Dickens, who owns and runs Keedays Event Management, organised a Christmas Fayre at Northwich Memorial Court.

There were more than 45 local suppliers offering a wide range of items. Local businesses donated raffle prizes and raffle proceeds of £621 were donated to the appeal.

The club also hosted their annual “Black and White” evening held at Helsby GG.

Tickets were sold out and and members and supporters enjoyed great food, music and entertainment.

Youngsters looking forward to more independence

On the night, powered wheelchairs were presented to 11-year-old Gemma Conery from Ashton Hayes and 13-year-old Poppy from Middlewich.

The girls were accompanied by their families and friends and are now looking forward to the independence their new chairs will give them.

A total of £980 was raised on the night by donations and raffle proceeds.

The chairs presented bring the total donated to 339.
