A RUNCORN-BASED healthcare company has seen off competition from dozens of London firms to win a major prize at the 2006 Communique Awards, the Oscars of the healthcare and medical education profession.

Harvey Walsh, based at The Heath Business and Technical Park, was awarded the prize for Best Small Consultancy at a ceremony held at the Grosvenor House in London.

This accolade builds on its success in the 2005 awards when it walked away with a prize for the Best Healthcare Policy Campaign.

The firm was formed four years ago and is one of only a handful of healthcare consultancies operating outside London.

Sue Beecroft, director with Harvey Walsh, said: 'The Best Small Consultancy Award is a tremendous achievement for our organisation. It serves to define our strategy and our core belief that we are big enough to cope yet small enough to care.'

Harvey Walsh operates in a niche market within the healthcare industry, providing pharmaceutical companies and the NHS with a range of services from full marketing strategies and IT software systems to patient information leaflets and websites.

Recent projects have included setting up a national personality disorder website for the Home Office and the National Institute of Mental Health and providing support for a national diabetes care pathway programme.

Dave Pinnington, Harvey Walsh commercial director, said: 'Our clients value our approach to their campaigns, and we provide innovative solutions to drive brand sales through our unrivalled understanding of the NHS.

'The Best Small Consultancy award means we are able to cope with local, national and international campaigns, while still being able to react quickly to change.'
