MEMBERS of the Grosvenor Museum’s Youth Panel are holding a festive fundraising event on Saturday, December 13.

Entrance to the event in the museum’s Newstead Gallery is free and visitors will be able to make their own free Christmas decorations to take home.

All money raised from the sale of refreshments and festive food will go towards museum events and displays organised by the panel. Visitors to the event, which runs from 11.30am-1.30pm and from 2.30-4.30pm, can also visit the museum’s Victorian themed rooms which have been dressed for Christmas.

Local Councillor Samantha Dixon said: “The Grosvenor Museum Youth Panel is a group of 14 to 18-year-olds who work with museum staff on various projects around the museum, from exhibition development to event planning.

“The Youth Panel recently put on a very successful Hallowe’en event and wanted to follow that up with a Christmas fundraising event. Panel members have worked with museum staff to plan the day and make Christmas decorations for the Victorian rooms.”

The rest of the museum, including the themed rooms, is open from 10.30am-5pm with free admission. For further information on the Grosvenor Museum Youth Panel please contact Lucy Ashdown, on 01244 972102, e-mail lucy.ashdown@cheshirewest.gov.uk
