There are no suspicious circumstances surrounding the death of a man whose body was recovered from a residential street in Great Sutton on Monday night.

Police were called to Overpool Road at about 6.45pm following reports that a man in a tree was threatening to harm himself.

When they arrived, they encountered a small crowd in the street and cordoned off Overpool Road at the junction of Sutton Way to allow emergency services to deal with the incident.

An eyewitness said the man was later found hanged but this has not been confirmed by police.

He was taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he was pronounced dead just before 8pm. A Cheshire police spokesperson said there were no suspicious circumstances and a file is being prepared for the coroner.
