Two children were taken to hospital this afternoon (Tuesday, July 5) following a road accident on a rural lane near Chester.

The collision, involving two vehicles, happened in Barrow Lane, Great Barrow , about 3.30pm.

Cheshire Police understand there were no obvious injuries but two children were taken to hospital for a check-up.

According to travel website Inrix, Barrow Lane was closed in both directions, with slow traffic due to the accident between A51 Tarvin Road and A56 Warrington Road.

Traffic was unable to access Great Barrow for a time after the road was closed between Dunham-on-the-hill and Tarvin. However, the road reopened about 5.30pm.
