A COUPLE have toasted the year of their golden wedding anniversary with style.

Gordon and Sheila Rich had been married for 50 years on March 5, but they waited until summer to hold a garden party with friends and family.

The couple, both 74 years old, were married at St Mary the Virgin Church, Pulford in 1960.

Helen Bradsell, one of the couple’s three children, said: “They met after my mum, who lived in Poulton, had left school at 15 to go on a course placement in Heswall.

“One day in 1958, when they were both 22, my dad was a plumber, working at her mum and dad’s house. He was carrying out some work in the bathroom when they met.

“They got married and moved to a place between Rossett and Holt in 1960, where they have lived ever since. They have three children – myself, Steven and Martin – eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.”
