CHESHIRE West & Chester Council is to run two free girls-only fitness days, as part of work to get young people more active.

Aimed at encouraging girls between 10 and 19 years old to take part in multi-sports, fitness and health-related activities, a range of sessions including, dance classes, spinning, gym inductions, trampolining and tae kwon do will be on offer.

The two events will be held at the Northgate Arena, Chester on Saturday, November 13 from 11.30am for 13 to 19 year olds and at the EPIC Leisure Centre on Sunday, November 28 from 11.30am for 10 to 14 year olds.

Councillor Arthur Harada, executive member for children’s services, said: “These events are designed to show girls that getting active through dance or trampolining can not only be great fun and a great way to meet new friends, but can also be good for your health.

“The planned sessions will provide a great opportunity to come along and try a wide range of activities all at once.

“We want to promote the benefits of adopting a healthy lifestyle and encourage the girls to continue to take part in fitness provision in their local area.”
