CHAMPION fundraiser Hannah Jones is organising a gig at Alexander’s in Chester next Thursday to raise funds for brain cancer research.

The University of Chester student, who turns 20 on July 20, is behind the live music event Don't Stop Me Now on Thursday, July 18 at 8pm.

Bands KUZO and Hank Tilly will be joined by talented youngsters Sam Mellor, from Christleton High School, and Anna Houghton, from Queen’s Park High School, at the Rufus Court venue.

Other confirmed acts are Mark Pountney, Sphelm (Mike Al Haq McKnight) and Leon Southgate.

Entry is £5 and all proceeds will go towards the Hannah Louise Jones Brain Tumour UK Fund.

Hannah, a former Christleton High School pupil, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in 2008, when she was just 15.

She has had three operations to remove a 7cm tumour and has undergone radiotherapy and chemotherapy treatment.

During the third operation she suffered a stroke, which initially left her paralysed down her left side but, thanks to intensive physiotherapy and a lot of hard work, Hannah learned to walk again.

She is now studying to be a teacher at the University of Chester.

Hannah was voted Champion of Champions in the 2010 Trinity Mirror Cheshire/ScottishPower Your Champions.
