Upton by Chester High is delighted with its ‘excellent’ GCSE results which are again above the national average.

Upton is particularly proud of the fact that 75% of grades are at A*-C, which is a further increase on last year, and 72% of students achieved five or more A*-C grades.

Especially pleasing is the school’s ‘value added’ score which shows that students of all abilities have achieved greater success at Upton, across the board, than other schools. Furthermore, Upton’s English and maths results exceed national averages.

Modern foreign language results are again outstanding, including 100% A*-C in German and Mandarin, with five A* grades in Mandarin which is nationally acknowledged to be one of the most challenging GCSEs.

In science, Upton achieved 100% success in physics, biology and chemistry and 85% of students achieved two or more science GCSEs at grades A*-C.

Headteacher Paula Dixon said: ‘Yet again Upton High School students have done us proud!
