Students at the University Church of England Academy (UCEA) in Ellesmere Port are celebrating after achieving an ‘outstanding’ set of GCSE results.

The number of students making progress is the highest the academy has achieved as it continues to move forward rapidly.

Those gaining five or more grades A*-C including English and mathematics has remained high this year.

Principal Kevin McDermott said: “I am delighted that our students, with the support from their parents and our staff, have achieved these great results. This demonstrates that the academy should continue to make rapid progress.

“A massive thank you goes out to our students, who have bought into our philosophy of high achievement and high aspirations.”
