Twins at Abbey Gate College are celebrating excellent sets of GCSE results between them.

Ellie and Beth McCarthy did exceptionally well with Ellie achieving an outstanding 11 A* grades and Beth a magnificent 8A*s and 3 As.

Another set of twins, James and Andy Ayshford, also managed an impressive array of grades with James achieving 9A*s and 1A and Andy achieving 5A* and equivalent grades, 4A*s and 1B.

Amy Gillespie demonstrated her all round ability by obtaining 6A* and 4 A grades and particular mention must also go to the following who achieved all A*, A, and B GCSE grades: Toby Stanford (7A*, 2A, 1B), Olivia Rollinson (7A*, 2A and 1B), Oliver Livesey (6A*, 2A, 2B), Tabitha Mullock (5A*, 3A and 2B), Zoe Green (4A*, 4A, 1B), Sarah Brattel (5A*, 4A, 1B), Sophie Bell (5A*, 3A, 2B), Robyn Jones (4A*, 3A, 2B) and Kieren Platts (2A*, 7A, 1B)

Many of the pupils also achieved a distinction in their GCSE equivalent ICT qualification, with almost half of them achieving three distinction grades.

Headmistress Tracy Pollard praised the efforts of both pupils and staff.

She said: “I once again commend the dedication of the pupils and teachers here at Abbey Gate College. These results bode well for success in their sixth form studies and the college looks forward to continuing to help them to develop into ambitious, well rounded and happy individuals.

“The pupils have been excellent ambassadors for the college and their involvement in activities such as the College Chapel Choir, sporting teams, the Duke of Edinburgh Scheme and as peer mentors demonstrate their commitment and enthusiasm towards a wide range of college activities; we look forward to welcoming them back into the sixth form in September.”
