A PLANT at Ineos ChlorVinyls was evacuated after a minor incident on Tuesday.
People working at the VC3 plant in Runcorn were bussed to The Pavilions, Sandy Lane, as a precaution.
The alarm was raised at 9am after a release of ethylene dichloride, which was contained within the plant.
An Ineos ChlorVinyls spokesman said: 'The incident was quickly brought under control by Ineos' emergency response team and there were no injuries as a result of the incident.
'At no time during the incident were employees or local residents in any danger.
'The company's tried and tested emergency procedures worked as planned in the control and management of this incident.
'A full investigation will now be carried out into the cause of the incident.'
The VC3 plant produces a product called vinyl chloride monomer, which is the major raw material used in the manufacture of PVC.
