FRODSHAM’S most famous son is preparing to do the town proud performing to hundreds of thousands of fans in his first solo tour in more than a decade.

Starting next month Gary Barlow will be taking to the stage and singing in front of packed crowds across the country as he tours for the first time in 13 years without his bandmates from Take That.

The tour comes after a year of landmark achievements for the 41-year-old who was awarded an OBE by the Queen in her Diamond Jubilee birthday honours list for his contribution to British music.

Gary, who attended Frodsham High School and grew up on London Road, will be performing decades of hits including Forever Love and Love Won’t Wait during the 16-show tour simply named Gary Barlow: In Concert.

The tour comes after the X Factor judge was inspired to perform solo again after he enjoyed two landmark performances at the Royal Albert Hall in London last year.

“I’m really excited about these dates,” said Gary, who has sold more than 50 million records worldwide with eight No.1 albums and 14 No.1 singles to his name.

“Playing live is my favourite thing and I haven’t played a solo show for over a year now. Last year playing two London shows was brilliant, we all had such a good time, so I thought right let’s get out and see the rest of the country!”

The tour will begin at Bournemouth International Centre on November 13, which also featured on his last solo outing in 1999, during his For The Fans tour.

The shows, which include performances at the Manchester Apollo and the city’s Bridgewater Hall, will wind up at The Waterfront in Belfast on January 8.

Tickets for Gary Barlow: In Concert go on sale tomorrow (Friday).
