Police are investigating after five men allegedly assaulted a teenager with a bladed item in an alleyway in Helsby.

Chester CID officers are looking into the incident, alleged to have taken place between 11-11.30pm near Helsby Library on Tuesday, March 29.

The 18-year-old local alleged victim was walking through the alley next to the library on Chester Road when he was approached by five men who threatened him and demanded he hand over his mobile phone.

When he refused, one of the offenders then produced a bladed item and assaulted the victim, who had to be taken to the Countess of Chester Hospital where he was treated for his injuries.

He has since been released.
