A DISABLED homeowner is up in arms after claiming the council singled out his property for the installation of unsightly concrete bollards which are creating a parking nightmare.
Duncan Rogers said the bollards would be better suited to 'preventing ram raids' than stopping him and his family parking on the grass verge outside his Barrows Green Lane home in Widnes.
He said that on Friday morning he returned to his home to find seven concrete posts sticking out of the grass which he described as 'a major eyesore and a serious inconvenience.'
But Mr Rogers feels he has been treated unfairly as the posts are only located outside his property and nowhere else.
He said: 'There have been several complaints from the neighbours about these ram-raid barriers and there was no consultation with people who live here.
'Our Council Tax is being wasted by putting these things in.'
A Halton council spokeswoman said: 'A complaint was received about the poor condition of the verge which was being used by drivers for parking vehicles.
'In order to protect the grassed area and prevent further damage it was necessary to place a number of bollards along the kerb edge.
'The general issue of parking on grassed verges is a growing concern, due to both the resulting unsightliness and the ongoing cost of repairing the ruts. This issue is to be given further attention.'
