FURTHER time was granted for the change of use of a city centre dwelling to a restaurant.

The request was submitted at The Old School House, 1 Kaleyards by Mr and Mrs Ian and Hilary Greer.

The detached property faces the Kaleyards car park, according to a report.

In 2008, approval was granted for a change of use to a restaurant.

There had been no significant change to planning policies since the original permission, officials at Cheshire West and Chester Council explained.

They pointed out the Government intended to make it easier for developers to keep planning permissions alive for longer periods during the downturn so they could more easily be taken up when economic conditions improved.

The building is said to be in a poor state of repair and the change of use would lead to it being renovated.

Jobs would also be created.

The application was recommended for approval and the council agreed the permission could be extended for a further three years.
