Frodsham Town Council have launched a newsletter to be delivered free to homes in the town.

The first issue was released this month, with plans for Frodsham Christmas Festival on the front page.

A competition has been set up to decide a name for the publication, with children invited to send in their suggestions.

Castle Park councillor Richard Knowles was the driving force behind the idea.

He said: “I looked at the way Frodsham Town Council deals with the public and thought there was room for improvement in our communications.

“We saw the council had a lot of good news to get out there, but using social media can only do so much.

“Not everyone is online so this is a different way of keeping people informed.”

A £25 voucher for The Sweet Shop in Frodsham will be given to the winning name in the competition.

Deadline for entries is December 31, with the top choice to be revealed in January.

A small amount of ad space has been sold, meaning the newsletter can be delivered free at no cost to the public.

Councillor Knowles said: “There’s lots positive things councillors are doing and I just think it’s important to get it out there.

“In the first edition we devoted the back page to school news, but we’ve had such a good response we might have to do two pages next time.”

He added the aim had been to put the newsletter out each quarter, but this could be increased to every two months.
