A NEW ‘green’ group launched in Frodsham is following in the footsteps of the successful Kingsley Transition Initiative, which has just celebrated its third anniversary.

Fifteen people – representing local residents, businesses and organisations – attended the first meeting in Frodsham, instigated by Kingsley group founder, Allan Arthur, who said a range of projects were already beginning to develop to help make the town more self-sufficient.

The new group is now exploring grant funding sources to support its ideas, which include establishing links with local retailers and campaign group, Love Frodsham, to encourage the sale of local goods and supporting youth projects and waste/recycling projects.

Sixty supporters of Kingsley Transition Initiative met at the village community centre to celebrate significant achievements.

In its first three years, KTI has organised quarterly local produce markets; provided 17 allotments; donating £100 each to Kingsley’s two primary schools for eco projects; assisted 20 homes to improve insulation and initiated solar panels on the roof of Kingsley Community Centre and 12 homes in the village.

For more information on KTI, contact Mr Arthur on 07785 341361, or Simon Sherlock on 01928 787813.

The next produce market will be at the community centre on March 3 from 9.30am-1pm.
