A ‘fantastic’ marathon of music has been celebrated in Frodsham.

Frodsham Singathon gave artists, bands and choirs a chance to showcase their talents at the non-stop event from the first notes at 10am to the final song at 10pm.

The event sounded out at Frodsham Community Centre on February 27 after the culmination of preparations since spring 2015.

Organisers said the extravaganza would not have possible without a dedicated group of volunteers who combined gave 150 hours of their time to the event.

Co-ordinator Jean Williams said: “I think it went as well as it could have hoped and even more so. It was just a lovely atmosphere.

“All the choirs and bands played really well, it was fantastic.”

Performances during the singathon came from The Zodiac, Vocal Infinity and Sabotage.

School choirs from Helsby Hillside, Frodsham CE Primary, Manor House and Helsby High also took to the stage.

The final hour was handed over to rock and pop cover band The Barrowhawks.

Throughout the day there were also supporting sets in the ‘LiveLounge’ from the Weaver Valley Accordion Band, Gratuitous Sax and Frodsham Guitar Club.

Deputy mayor councillor Mallie Poulton was on hand alongside the town’s junior mayors to draw the prizes in the grand raffle.

There was also an exhibition of photos entered into the ‘Frodsham in Focus’ competition for ages four to 18.

Frodsham Singathon organisers said they also wanted to thank sponsors Hurst Joinery, the Rotary Club of Frodsham and Helsby and KDE Electrics.
