Former Chester Chronicle man wins national green award

A FORMER Chronicle sub-editor walked away with the award for ‘Green Motoring Journalist of the Year’.

Paul Lucas, content editor for leading environmental car guide, TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk, was given the accolade at the annual GreenFleet Awards at London’s Guildhall.

Motoring journalist and Fifth Gear presenter Tiff Needell revealed the 2009 winners in 23 categories.

The awards recognise the best in industry achievement in the drive towards low carbon fleets and sustainable business transport.

Widnes-born Paul was recognised for his hard work collating informative guides on a wealth of green motoring issues from alternative fuels, company car tax data and greener driving styles.

Paul was also praised for his part in TheGreenCarWebsite.co.uk’s daily updated news section which files more news stories each day than any other green car website.

Editor Faye Sunderland said: “Everybody connected with TheGreenCarWebsite is delighted with this prestigious award.

“To see how the website has blossomed in a little over two years is amazing. It’s a fantastic accolade for Paul and for the whole team working on the website.”
