A NEW taxi service has been launched in a Cheshire village.

Stuart Snelson, of Oathills Drive, Tarporley, gave up the 9-5 in 2003 to become a self-employed advertising agent.

But he is now following a different path as a taxi driver, launching Abbey Travel in December 2007.

Stuart, 52, a former circulation manager with The Chronicle, said: “As an advertising agent, I spent lots of time travelling up and down the country and I wanted to do something that would mean spending more time closer to home.

“There is a growing demand for taxi services in the village and we get a lot of jobs from hotels in the area, doing airport runs, weddings and collecting people for business meetings, as well as taking people home from the pub on a Saturday night – so the job is quite varied.”

Stuart delivered leaflets in the village and promoted the company online (www.apollotravel.org) via a selection of free business listings.

“We have a new Renault Traffic and can take up to eight passengers.

“We enjoy easy access to the motorways, which makes us ideal for taking people to the airport.”
