A Nnew farmers and crafts market set up by a former Army sniper is drawing in the crowds in Hoole.

The monthly market, which takes place at Hoole Community Centre on the second Saturday of each month, features plenty of food for thought with dozens of local traders offering quality produce.

Faraly’s Fine Produce has organised the market as a way of inviting residents in Hoole and the surrounding area to enjoy the best of what their community has to offer.

Master butcher and business partner Ray Tindall, who has set up Faraly’s Fine Produce with wife Faith and daughter – and chief taster – Lyra, explained how the market came about.

Ray, from Newton, said: “I started making sausages while in the Army, where I was a sniper. Unfortunately, after 17 years there I developed hearing loss and I was conditionally discharged.

“However, I did have something to fall back on and so was able to set up Faraly’s Fine Produce.

“There were a lot of established markets around Chester, but many of them already had someone selling meat.

“I thought it was best to establish a market to not only guarantee a stall but pull in local produce.

“People in Hoole are loving the fact they have a market on their doorstep with all the local producers and hand-made crafts.

“It’s going to stay in Hoole at least until the end of the year and hopefully from next month we can move outside in warmer weather.”

The market includes fresh bread, beef, crafts and ‘mufcakes’ – a cross between a muffin and a cake. Faraly’s Fine Produce includes traditional pork sausages and sniper specials.
