More than 100 students from West Cheshire College in Ellesmere Port have joined together to perform a pantomime production of The Wizard of Oz this Christmas.

Students from drama, music, technical theatre, events and promotions, retail, as well as art and design will be staging the production from December 14-20 at the college’s John Prescott Theatre.

The performance is based on the 1939 classic fantasy film which includes the iconic characters Dorothy, Tin Man, Lion, Scarecrow and the Wicked Witch.

Paul Moss, programme leader for performing arts at West Cheshire College, said: “Christmas is all about pantomimes and this is a fantastic opportunity for local people to support our students and come and see our fantastic production.

“All of the students involved have worked so hard and have shown so much dedication and enthusiasm that I am sure the show will be a success. The tickets are still available but are selling fast.

“Our vocational courses are designed to provide our students with real-life experience and having the opportunity to work on shows like this provides them with valuable experience.”

December 14 and 20 at 1pm; December 15 and 16 at 1pm and 5pm; December 18 and 19 at 1pm and 7pm.
