Footballers got the new Footgolf attraction at Knights Grange Sports Complex in Winsford off to a flying start last weekend - with one player bagging a hole-in-one.

The 18-hole course is one of 85 official Footgolf venues across the UK.

Despite the changeable weather conditions throughout the afternoon the players enjoyed the new experience.

Danny Barnes, representing Winsford Diamonds, kicked the hole-in-one on the par 3 16th hole and he wasnʼt the only stand out performer on the day.

Danny said: “The day has been really good fun. Itʼs great to spend time with the lads in a different setting with a competitive edge!

“Weʼre already planning some games over the summer with the youth teams as itʼs a great activity for team building and spending time together outdoors.”

Connor Hooks took the longest kick prize, with Ollie Barnes taking the nearest the pin on the 5th hole.

Both Connor and Ollie picked up Euro 2016 footballs for their respective wins.

Rhys Jones, manager of Knights Grange Sports Complex, was encouraged by the turnout.

He said: “Weʼve been pleasantly surprised as the appetite for footgolf in the area has been extremely high.

“All of the players braved some tough conditions on Saturday but now with summer (hopefully) on the way weʼre looking forward to welcoming new visitors to the facility to give footgolf a try.”
