RECEPTION class pupils of Hoole CE Primary School have been getting about.

Since returning to school after Christmas the four- and five-year-olds have been learning all about transport.

James class teacher Jeni Griffiths said: “To celebrate the beginning of our topic, we held a bike and scooter day.

“We looked at how we move and did lots of exercise, so both children and adults were very tired by the end of the day.”

The children in Miss Griffiths’s class and Miss Alice Hay’s Henry class have also been visited by Chester Fire Station’s Blue Watch crew, St John Ambulance Service, Cheshire police and, at the youngsters’ request, an ice cream van.

Miss Griffiths said: “We had a great time tasting ice cream and getting very messy!

“A big thank you to our visitors, they were fantastic.”

Teaching assistants at the Hoole school include Gail Harding, Lynsey Cooper, Val Campbell, Chris Wardle and support staff Hasina Ali.

Next week’s Chronicle will have the fresh faces from Bickerton Primary School’s reception class.
