FRENCH lessons started early at Tarporley CE Primary School last term.

Reception children were introduced to modern foreign languages by learning a few French words and phrases during their very first term at the school.

The youngsters, taught by teacher Janet Kay and teaching assistants Carole Palmer and Julia Brighton, also made their own owls using needle and thread and received real owl visitors from neighbouring Peckforton Castle.

A special Christmas treat for the four and five-year-olds was a trip to Crewe to see the pantomime Snow White, after building their very own fairytale castle in the classroom.

Plans for this spring term include learning all about space and planets and looking for the moon and stars in the night sky.
