A pupil at The Firs School is speaking the right language.

Nine-year old Ethan Prosser, a Year 5 pupil, has qualified for the national finals of the Junior Language Challenge competition.

In the regional semi-final he competed against 21 children to prove his language abilities in Portuguese and Mandarin.

Ethan will now move forward to the national finals to be held in London where he will have to prove his abilities again, but this time in Arabic.

Headteacher Lucy Davies said: “We are very proud of Ethan who has put a huge amount of work into learning these languages. At The Firs School we inspire children to learn new skills and we offer classes in French, Spanish, Latin and Mandarin.”
