Firefighters tackle M53 trailer blaze involving 20 tonnes of wood chippings

FIREFIGHTERS are tackling a blaze on the M53 motorway involving a trailer carrying 20 tonnes of recycled wood chippings.

Crews were called to the M53 at its junction with the A55 on the outskirts of Chester at 2.39pm on Wednesday (September 21).

Police and the Highways Agency closed one lane so firefighters could deal with the incident. Due to the content of the load crews from Chester, Ellesmere Port and Runcorn remain at the scene.
