Firefighters battled to free motorists from cars as flooding hit the region yesterday afternoon (Friday, January 31)

As the north west braced itself for another weekend of flooding emergency services were called to Lindley Lane in Church Lawton, Little Sutton after reports of people trapped in the rising flood waters.

Firefighters freed the two motorists who had become trapped in their vehicles at around 4pm yesterday.

A safety kit was used to release the drivers before crews helped to recover the cars from the waters.

No one was thought to have been hurt in the incident.
