Chester FC are fourth in the National League for fans receiving banning orders – a figure that is higher than 12 clubs from the Premier League and Championship.

Figures from the Home Office show a total of 17 Blues supporters are currently serving stadium bans, which is beaten only by Lincoln City (36), Grimsby Town (32) and Wrexham (18).

Chester’s current total number of banning orders is higher than Premier League sides Swansea City (15) and Norwich City (3), as well as 10 Championship clubs and Scottish giants Rangers (16).

In the 2014-15 season, eight Blues fans were hit with bans. Only Bristol Rovers (31), who have since won promotion, and Lincoln City (12) had more in non-league football’s top flight last season.

The eight banning orders handed out last year were all for Chester supporters who shattered a minute’s silence with chants mocking a Wrexham fan’s death during the derby between the sides in September 2014.

A total of 19 football-related arrests involving Chester fans were made during the 2014/15 campaign, which equates to 18% of the league’s total.

Fifteen were at the Lookers Vauxhall Stadium and four were in away matches. Eleven were relating to public disorder offences, four were for pitch incursion and four for alcohol offences.
