STAFF at holiday firm Thomas Cook have been told whether their store was to shut its doors after the company announced plans to cut 2,500 jobs nationally.

The shake-up saw the firm enter a 90-day consultation process with those affected.

Chester has Thomas Cook branches in Bridge Street and at the Broughton Shopping Park.

There was better news for staff at the Chester branch of bed business Dreams.

The Greyhound Retail Park is one of the 160 stores to have been saved as the struggling retailer was bought out by Sun European yesterday. However, 90 of the remaining stores are likely to be axed.
