MALPAS Parish Council will hold an extraordinary meeting on Monday to discuss a potential housing development in the village.

The open meeting will be held in the top room at the Jubilee Hall, where councillors and members of the public will discuss the development of seven houses proposed to be built on greenfield land on Greenfields Lane.

The proposal has sparked anger among villagers, who fear it could pave the way for more developments that would take over Malpas.

Many residents have joined Action for Greenfields, a pressure group that makes a stand against the plans, which has gained the support of the majority of the village.

The group’s aim is to stop the Greenfields proposal getting the green light because they fear it could give the go-ahead for 150 ‘high quality’ family homes by property magnate Gladman between Chester Road and Well Street.

The extraordinary meeting will be held from 7pm.
