A CHESHIRE horse farm is offering people the chance to get even closer to some of the biggest horses in the world.

Cotebrook Shire Horse Centre near Tarporley, has launched a range of ‘experience days’ that aim to give people a taste of life on the farm.

As well getting up close with the Shires, visitors on an experience day will be personally guided by Alistair King, who runs the centre and has been breeding award-winning horses for more than 40 years.

The experiences range from two hours to half-a-day to a full day and include learning more about how to produce award-winning horses and trying your hand at preparing the animals for the show ring.

Janet King, who also runs the centre with husband Alistair, said: “Our experience days give people the chance to see how much work goes into producing champions.

“We are the only working stud farm open to the public so these experience days are a unique chance to step into another world.”

She added: “As well as learning more about the work of a stud farm and the history of Shires, it is a fantastic opportunity just to be in such close proximity to these horses.”
