As Rugby World Cup fever hots up, pupils at Delamere CE Academy have been getting advice from the top.

Ex-England international Phil Greening was at the school to talk about his career.

Phil, whose son is a pupil at the school, played 24 times for England in two world cups and was part of the British Lions team. His most memorable game was being down to 13 men against New Zealand down under and walking off with a victory.

During his time at the school he also presented the weekly PE Star Awards.

PE teacher Tom Freeman said, ‘Opportunities to hear professional sports people talk about their lives are great for our children. They inspire a love of sport and competition and although children to have high aspirations to achieve of their best!’

Phil is working with the USA rugby 7’s teams as they prepare for next year’s Olympics in Rio and we wish him every success.
