ESTYN inspectors have praised St David’s High School in a report.

Six inspectors spent five days in the Saltney school observing lessons, scrutinising work in all subjects and talking to students and teachers about standards of achievement, care and guidance, the school curriculum and leadership and management.

Inspectors judged St David’s to be a good school with a number of outstanding features and excellent prospects for improvement.

The report stated: “Pupils know the standards they are aiming for and what they need to do to achieve success. Progress is tracked meticulously and under-performance addressed rigorously.”

Teaching quality is highlighted as a strong feature of the school and it promotes integration, equal opportunities, positive relationships and mutual respect extremely well.

Headteacher Tony Davidson said: ‘This is an excellent report. Relationships between learners and teachers are exceptionally good. Our students work hard and our staff are talented and committed.

“Results have rocketed over the past four years and I am pleased so many positive judgments feature in the inspection report.”
