Stanlow-based Essar Oil UK has confirmed its sponsorship of the 2013 Essar Chester Literature Festival.
The autumn festival, which is produced by city arts organisation Chester Performs, will run from October 13-27 and this year features its most impressive line-up yet.
Ian Cotton, of Essar Oil UK, said: “We are delighted to be sponsoring the festival for another year. The event has become an integral part of the city’s cultural calendar and this year, there really is something for everybody.
Festival manager Paul Lavin added: “We’re pleased to have Essar on board. We’ve developed a great relationship with the company and through their continued support, we can ensure the festival continues to grow.”
Among the authors starring at the festival are broadcaster Clive James, comedian Tim Vine, war correspondent Kate Adie and actor Sir Derek Jacobi.
Other big names on the bill include BBC Radio 5 Live’s Richard Bacon, Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn and TV personality Kate Humble.
Festival favourite David Crystal returns to discuss his new book Wordsmiths and Warriors and the ever-popular lunchtime talks are also back this year.
Plus, this year’s festival also includes two new strands – The University at the Festival series sees Chester University Professors presenting free public lectures and, for the first time, the festival has extended to include fringe events across the city during the festival fortnight.
The full programme is available to view online at www.chesterliteraturefestival.co.uk and tickets are on sale now.
