Cestrians and visitors who have a penchant for brain teasers which set hearts pumping can now indulge in the city’s very own ‘escape room’.

Hidden behind a green door in the east wing of Chester railway station, RoomsQuest bills itself as the Crystal Maze meets Fort Boyard, with elements of The Cube thrown in for good measure.

The new attraction sees players – or ‘roomers’ – working against the clock in teams of between three and five to solve puzzles and conundrums so they can escape before their 60 minutes runs out.

In current game Jailbreak, teams must help one of their members escape from a nightclub cloakroom they’ve fallen asleep in before the alarm goes off.

But other scenarios ‘Platform 7 3/8ths and Safe Haven – whereby players have one hour before a ‘deadly’ nerve gas fills the room – are coming soon.

Positive feedback

RoomsQuest is already garnering rave reviews on its Facebook page.

One happy customer said: “Our first time ever doing an ‘escape the room’ game, absolutely loved it.”

While another said it was ‘such good fun’, even though the room got the better of them.

RoomsQuest caters for families, groups of friends, stag and hen parties, and team-building exercises.
