Chester youngster Erin Cross enjoyed a royally special treat when she met HRH Prince Charles last week.

The four-year-old from Upton was invited by Alder Hey Children’s Hospital where she received much of her treatment for acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, to meet the future King who was there to see the building’s new multi-million pound facility which will replace the current century-old hospital when it opens in September.

Erin’s mum Sarah said: “Erin and her friend Ruben had a run around and bit of a play, and when Prince Charles walked through Erin did a little curtsy. She gave him a little heart cushion she had made with ‘Princess Charlotte’ sewn on the front and we both had a lovely chat with him and he was happy to hear that Erin had completed her treatment for leukaemia.

“He was also keen to know what happens over the next few years, and how often Erin will attend hospital. He had a chat with her about going to school and they shared a few jokes about the name of her teddy - it was lovely.

“The new hospital is out of this world and will be fantastic when it opens,” she added.
